She hopes that someone else will do it for her, but she recalls again that the odds are not in her favor, foreshadowing troubles and decisions that are to come. As a tribute to Katniss, the audience members hold their three middle fingers of their left hand to their lips and then hold them out to Katniss, a District 12 gesture that shows admiration, thanks, and goodbye to someone they love.
